MIND UP FOCUS Movement 1                   BEHAVIOUR FOCUS using the High Five
As part of the schools Responsible Behaviour Plan we teach our children the skills which will build their self-esteem and empower them to take responsibility for their actions.  We want to promote pro-active strategies to prevent incidents becoming bullying through teaching the High five strategy and to have respect for self, others and place.
• It is an effective strategy to develop problem-solving strategies for our students.
• A whole school approach that can also eradicate bullying.
• It is a 5 step problem solving strategy that can be used in the classroom, in the playground and for perceived bullying incidents.
• Values - used to foster better relationships, personal achievement and improved student wellbeing.
• High Five - used to build students' social skills and resilience.
• Together positive impact and shape School Code of Behaviour.
A wonderful way to enhance learning and build on a positive understanding of your child’s experiences during the day is to consider the following when chatting with them :
• What did you learn about today?
• How are you going with your learning?
• How do you know if you are doing what is expected?
• What do you need to do to improve?
• If you are having trouble – where can you go for help?
These questions are based on current research from John Hattie and Lyn Sharrat.  There are questions that teachers will also be focusing on as school moves into the coaching phase.
Enjoy the rest of your week

The cubelet is an awesome coding toy, which is an introduction to coding. It helps to learn the basics eg opposites, equals and connections. Everything needs to be connected to work. We invented different machines using the blocks and enjoyed problem solving to make our inventions work.
