PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Behaviour Focus for next week:
Include others – let everyone join in!
This rule is about how you treat other people and don’t forget to let others join in. Look out for lonely people and say ‘hello’ or wave or smile is a good start.

Mind Up Focus for next week:
Appreciate Happy Experiences
Thinking about and being happy about things that happen to you! Things that happen to you with your friends and family can make you feel happy.
NAPLAN
I would like to commend our students for the way in which they took the 3 Day NAPLAN testing in their stride this week. This is also a reflection of our wonderful Year 3 and 5 teachers who prepared the students sufficiently whilst keeping it part of the normal teaching and learning routines. Well done.  A huge thank you also to our Parents Reps and P&C for supporitng the Brekky each
morning.

Each term our teachers send home a term overview explaining the key learning content and assessment tasks to be covered. Homework is another way teachers communicate with parents about the weekly focus and learning content. Should the teacher identify any specific information that needs to be communicated in addition to this it will usually come in the form of an email or note. Individual teachers may communicate more than this via email or other means. The above is the agreed modes and frequency of communication between home and school in addition to the Parent Teacher Night and Parent Teacher Interviews following Semester Reporting. If you find you are not receiving the above information please make direct contact with your class teacher in order for them to be aware a problem has occurred (it most often is because an email address has been recorded incorrectly).

CITY DISTRICTS GALA SPORTS DAY
Next Friday, our Year 4,5 & 7 students will be participating in the first of the City Districts Gala Sports Days. We have Netball and Soccer teams participating this year. Thank you to our students and teachers for the preparations and training so far.

THE PREMIER'S READING CHALLANGE - Reading Starts soon!
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is an annual event to “encourage students to develop a love of reading for life”. To meet the challenge, students are required to read a prescribed number of books – typically 20 books for lower year levels and 15 books for students reading lengthier, more complex books (usually students in Years 5-7).
Young, or less able readers, can list books they experience through shared reading, listening to audio books or being read to. To successfully complete the challenge students are required to record the books they have read on the Reading Record form. Reading Record forms will be sent home soon. Students are asked to return their forms to school when they have read the required number of books.
Happy reading!

Have a wonderful week,
Sandy

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME – Wednesday, 23rd May.
National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
Every year, a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian author is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
This year’s book is ‘Hickory Dickory Dash’ written by Tony Wilson, illustrated by Laura Wood.
Our Little Town at PTSS will be participating in a fun filled reading of the story on Wednesday, 23rd May begining at 10:45 for all students.

BAHA'I CLASS
Natasha is unable to run our Baha'i classes for the next 2 weeks. Baha'i will resume on Wednesday 30th May.
