PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

WELCOME BACK
Welcome back to term two. I trust that you had a great holiday with your family and found some time to relax and unwind while having a break from the usual school routine. This term is a busy one. There are many events that the school will be hosting and that we would like you to be involved in.  The first of these events will be held next Tuesday 24 April. The school will be holding our annual ANZAC DAY CEREMONY starting at 9:15am by the flag pole. This event will be attended by several of our community members that have strong ties to this special day. All community members are welcome to attend.

CROSS COUNTRY
Thankfully the weather has been kind to us this term and we have been able to run our cross country for the year. Congratulations to all of our students for a great run and to Jenny Collins our PE teacher for her amazing organisation for the day.  A huge big thank you to our parent reps and spectators for all your support.

MASTER PLANNING PROCESS
Together with the Department of Education we have been working on the development of a new master plan for the school. Our priority is to ensure that the master planning process is an inclusive process based on school-wide community engagement to ensure you have your say about what’s important to you, your children and our community.
Last term as part of the school community engagement program, we held workshops with key groups in the school to understand the views of our school community and help us plan for the school’s future.
As part of the ongoing engagement process, we would like to hear from you your ideas about both education related issues as well as the opportunities for our school’s site. Please see below the link to the survey.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BRFW8BW
We are asking you to complete the survey by 5pm (Tuesday 24 April).I thank you in advance of your involvement in our school's future planning process.

PREP ENROLMENT FOR 2019
We are taking Prep enrolments for 2019. By law, children born between 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2014 must enrol in Prep 2019. Please visit the Enrolment tab on our website for the required documentation and Application for Student Enrolment form. Once the enrolment is complete an interview will take place later this year.

NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM LITERACY AND NUMERACY 2018 (NAPLAN)
All students in year three, five, seven and nine across Australia will sit national tests in Literacy and Numeracy. National tests will provide information on how students are progressing against National benchmarks and support improvements in teaching and learning. The tests will be conducted on Tuesday 15 May, Wednesday 16 May and Thursday 17 May.
A parent information brochure is available on the ACARA’s NAP website www.nap.edu.au.
Please try to ensure your children in year three and five are present at school for this testing. Children should arrive on time for the normal start to the school day, so they are able to participate in any preparatory arrangements.  This will increase their confidence going into the testing sessions.  Students should be encouraged to do their best on all tests, but, should not experience undue worry or stress about their performance, either before or after the tests.  If you require more information please contact the school office.

Enjoy the rest of your week

SCHOOL BANKING
Calling for volunteers – we need your help!
Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help.
The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking and distribution of School Banking rewards. This only takes a small amount of your time one day a week and the Commonwealth Bank will provide support in how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising.

Currently, School Banking day is Friday.
If you are interested in volunteering for this great program, please contact the office.

New School Banking rewards now available!
Exciting new Term 2 rewards with a Super Savers theme are now available,
while stocks last!
• Glow light
• Sparkle glitter pens

For every deposit made at school students will receive a silver Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for exclusive School Banking reward items in recognition of their regular savings habits. There are two new items released each term so be sure to keep an eye out for them!
Thank you for supporting the School Banking program.
