Don't miss NAIDOC Family Fun Day on 13 July
The Department of Education will once again host a marquee at the NAIDOC Family Fun Day on Friday 13 July at Musgrave Park, West End. The marquee will showcase some of the department’s key initiatives, such as Solid Pathways and Every Day Counts, as well as provide valuable information on training and skills, and human resources opportunities.
NAIDOC Family Fun Day is part of NAIDOC Week across Australia from 8–15 July to honour and acknowledge the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC Week is celebrated not only in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.
The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and support local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Because of her, we can!
To find out more and get involved, visit the NAIDOC Week( http://www.naidoc.org.au/get-involved/naidoc-week-events ) and the NAIDOC Family Fun Day( http://www.musgraveparkffd.com/ ) websites.

The school will be holding our own NAIDOC celebration during the first week back at school, culminating with a visit from our School Elder Aunty Flo Watson.

Enjoy your week,
Sandy

CHANGES TO OUR NEWSLETTER
As of Term 3 our school will be producing an electronic newsletter which will be emailed to parents/carers fortnightly via our new online subscription service Austnews. Many schools already use this system. The e-newsletter is an excellent opportunity for our school to share student achievements, upcoming events and important dates, and is great for keeping in touch.
To recieve our fortnightly e-newsletter using our new online service as of Term 3, parents can subscribe by using the this link: https://epublisher.net.au/public/subscriber/contactlists/subscriptionfrontform?clID=DmhyNn3iC9dECk5SBoL2pj02IC4Fhllxq3_TI0jStVs
The Parent details that you require for your subscription will be: your email address, first name and last name.
Each fortnight a link to the current Newsletter will also be provided on the home page of our website for quick access, and an archive of the most recent newsletters can be found on our website under calendar and news tab.

150th Anniversary
Petrie Terrace State School is delighted to be celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year, with an event scheduled to take place on Saturday 13th October 2018.  This will include open classrooms, a memorabilia display in the hall, delicious food and drink options, some old fashioned games and attractions on the oval, a welcoming ceremony staged on the oval with musical performances and finishing with a bush dance! Yeeee haa!!
In the lead up to this momentous occasion, we are inviting students, staff, parents, families, friends and community members, to get involved.
Please contact Jess McVeigh via jmcve12@eq.edu.au if you would like to be part of the committee or are willing to contribute in any way.  We are looking for volunteers on the day (eg setting up, BBQ, bar and packing away) as well as to assist with preparations and fundraising activities.
Later in the week, we will be sending out letters requesting business and corporate sponsorship for the event.
We look forward to your support!
