Principals Message

Dear All
As we are nearing the end of the half way mark for Term 3 it is great to see how the children are progressing with their learning and their ability to be able to articulate their own goals and the expectations for achievement. It is also that time of year again when THINKSPORTS is upon us and with it the buzz of excitement that comes with creativity, teamwork and problem solving!
The children have been hard at work planning their constructions and putting their imaginations to good use. Tomorrow will begin the next stage of the process which is to make their ideas into creations. I am always in awe of the diverse thinking and innovation which is evident in the final pieces.
THINKSPORTS will culminate with the Tournament Day on Tuesday, 15th August.  Parents may attend the first session of the day to View and Vote from 9:30am – 10:30am.  Awards will be presented at the end of the day at 2:30pm in Bumble Town Hall.

UKULELE CCONCERT – A huge shout out to the ukulele performers who with the expert guidance of Mr Walker and Mr Kemp treated us with a mini concert on Wednesday afternoon. WOW – what a talented group of musicians to learn and perform a number of tunes after only a short time.  The decorations added to the ambience making us feel as though we were at an Hawaiian Luau!! Thanks to the parents who were also able to attend. Well done and BRAVO to you all!!
Enjoy the glorious weather this weekend to do something lovely with each other…
Karryn Coombes (Acting Principal)

P&C News

Tuckshop Coordinator Required
We are desperately seeking a new tuckshop coordinator. If we don't have someone take the role on for term four there will be no tuckshop at PTSS.
Bonnie has done a fantastic job but has to finish up at the end of this term.  Having said this, the new coordinator is under no pressure to run the tuckshop in the same way.  If you are even considering this, please contact us as we believe the PTSS community value this lunch option for their children.  Even if you opt to have 2 simple lunch choices on the menu, it is better than none. The coordinator can choose how the tuckshop is run. That means they may decide what day it's on offer, what menu items are available, and whether the food is delivered through the day (as it is now) or provided to the children in one delivery. You can cook it yourself or liaise with caterers.
If you're considering this role, please let Natasha know at natashagowans@yahoo.com.au or 0418 123 962.
Tuckshop is an important part of a school, it would be such a shame if we had to shut it down.
Parking Volunteer Roster
We currently have no volunteers for Friday the 18th August and need two helpers there from 5.30pm-7.45pm. The NRL finals are also fast approaching. We will get confirmed dates for the games at Suncorp Stadium the week before, so keep an eye on the roster for these upcoming events. Click here for roster signup details: www.volunteersignup.org/3ETQJ
Any queries, please call or email Chris: chris@itscotia.com.au 0428357860

HAVE YOUR SAY ON FUTURE OVAL DEVELOPMENT
PTSS parents and students are invited to attend a planning meeting to discuss the future development of the lower level of the school (comprising the oval, playground, sheds, netball courts and under the hall). Jabiru has generously offered to help facilitate the process by providing an experienced professional to help us make our desires a reality. If you have any ideas to contribute, you are most welcome to participate in the meeting to be held on Sunday the 27th of August from 9am to 12. If you desire to be a little more involved, become a member of the Oval Development Working Group. Email Greg Steel with your expressions of interest- steel_greg@hotmail.com

Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Petrie Terrace P&C will be on Wednesday 13th September at 6.30pm in the Bumbletown Hall.  See you there!
