Students at Petrie Terrace State School learn Japanese from Prep to Year 6 as part of their engagement with the Languages Curriculum, a key learning area of the Australian Curriculum. Students participate in weekly lessons to learn the language and culture of Japan.
By studying Japanese, students not only learn to communicate in the language, but also develop a deeper insight into different cultural perspectives. In addition, learning a language has been shown to boost academic achievement, provide cognitive benefits and promotes positive attitudes and beliefs about other languages and cultures, important attributes for success in our global economy.
