There are a range of extra-curricular and outside school hours activities and programs available to our students.
After-school activities
Petrie Terrace State School is extremely fortunate to be part of the Australian Sports Commission’s 'Sporting Schools' grant program. For a smaller school like Petrie Terrace, this gives each of our students access to two free quality after school activities each term, as well as a healthy afternoon tea. All our providers have been approved by the Department of Education, and offer fun programs focusing on mobility and motor-skill development, designed to get even those traditionally non-active children excited about exercise.
Since Petrie Terrace first joined the program in 2007 (it was first known as the AASC) we have hunted treasure, climbed the Kangaroo Point cliffs, kayaked the Brisbane River, enjoyed yoga, perfected our circus skills, refined our dance moves and more.
Permission forms for After-School Activities are available from the
School Documents page.
Sports carnivals
Each year students compete in a swimming carnival and an athletics carnival.
Depending on a student’s ability, they may be given the opportunity to compete at District, Regional and State level.
Children are assigned to a house team for sports. Where possible, members of the same family belong to the same house.
The houses are as follows:
- KERRIBEE - Red (wild horse)
- COONAWARRA - Blue (emu)
- WARRAMOO - Gold (eagle)
Religion
We currently have a religious program available at our school - run by Bahai (External Site)
