We acknowledge the Jagera and Turrbal people, Traditional Custodians that cared for the lands, waterways, and skies where our school now stands. In the spirit of reconciliation, we honour and respect their Elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect and gratitude to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today, acknowledging that these have always been places of teaching and learning.
Nestled in between the inner-city suburb of Paddington and the Brisbane CBD, Petrie Terrace State School offers a family friendly, small school setting of approximately 275 students for students in Prep-Year 6. Adopting the principles of inclusive and student-centred learning, students achieve in alignment with their individual needs and potential. Academic achievement is supported through close relationships with families and our teaching and support teams.
The school continues to enjoy high academic achievements and a dynamic and valued Music and Arts Culture. Unique to our school is the Peer Support Program a nationally recognised critical thinking and philosophy approach, and a shared and devolved Student Leadership alongside the Mind-Up Curriculum. The start of each academic year commences with our 'Learning to Learn' program, incorporating Mind-Up and Cultures of Thinking programs. We underpin all our programs on evidence based practices and globally recognised educational research.
Many of our students progress into school scholarship and excellence programs at local private and state secondary schools. We have been acknowledged at a state level for the academic gains our students make whilst enrolled at our school.
